Tough Love - Tender Lessons
Tough Love - Tender Lessons
Lana
had always been strong-willed, smart, spirited, and social. But lately,
she’d been chasing the approval of the wrong crowd. Her friends dressed
like grown-ups, talked back to teachers, and got into trouble
regularly. At home, though, things were different. Her mother, Angela,
was a woman of principle, determined not to let her daughter be swept
away by bad influences.
One
Friday afternoon, Lana was excited; her friends were going to the
movies, and she planned to join them. But when she stepped out in a
short skirt and off-shoulder top, her mother’s heart sank.
“Lana,”
Angela said, pointing sternly, “I told you before, you’re not leaving
this house dressed like that. I don’t care what your friends wear. You
are my daughter, and you will respect yourself.”
“But Mom, all my friends wear this! Why can’t I?” Lana snapped, arms folded in frustration.
Angela
didn’t flinch. “I didn’t ask you about your friends. You live under my
roof, and there are rules. If you can’t follow them, there are
consequences.”
That night, Lana stayed home. No movies. No friends. And for the rest of the month, she was grounded.
It was about respect, self-worth, and a mother’s love refusing to give up on her child.
